Welcome to our blog. With this website and blog we hope to keep families updated on events and activities going on in our kindergarten classroom at St. James School.
This month we are focusing on nutritional health, winter, penguins, and shapes. The children are exploring a new light table we have created for them.
The children are really interested in cooking. We made a real ginger bread man, baked him and he ran away. We had a scavenger hunt to find him. We searched all over the school and he was in our class. The children will tell you all about it.
In the area of literacy we continue to read daily as a group and individually. We continue to use the Word Box with the children as well. The children attend PALS (Peer Assisted Learning Strategies) with Ms. Maitre to learn and practice their alphabet sounds and words to promote early reading skills.
Our dramatic centre is currently an animal hospital. The children are enjoying to care for animals and each other with a doctors kit as well as literacy materials about animals and pets. We added in a cot representing a doctors bed to the class as well.
The Math Centres are geared towards to winter and snow to follow the interest of the children as well. They are exploring number recognition, graphing, sorting, patterning, addition and team building skills with their partners..
Thank you parents for supporting our blog. We are happy to share the classroom news and events with you!
