The last two days the students have been able to get outside and enjoy playing in the snow. Their play is very creative and imaginative without the use of many toys.

Today our grade 8 buddies came into the class to work with the kindergartens during math work station time. The kindergarten students are working on a number of math skills through games such as number writing, graphing, patterning, addition and subtraction, sorting, number recognition, number representation, and shape identification. The games also give the student's practice working with spinners, dice, and math manipulatives such as buttons, snowflakes counters, play doh, pattern blocks, unifix cubes and marshmallow counters. Great fun was had by all! The past month the students have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Ground Hog Day, 100th Day, Carnival and Valentines Day. They have learned many new songs, finger plays and games. With the close of the Pizza Centre the students enjoyed making personal pizzas for snack time. Our new centre is a Pet/Vet Centre. The also like exploring the movement of the rice in our new Sensory Centre. We continue to work through our number posters 1-10. We will then be moving on to measurement. Please continue with number recognition and counting skills with the number cards that were sent home. As well a number of students still need to continue to practice printing their name. Each day we continue to talk about Lent and review our Lenten Calendar. Please continue to talk to your child about Lent and encourage them to complete the good deeds listed each day in the calendar that was sent home. Come in a check out the Pancake Promises that the junior and senior kindergarten children have made on the bulletin board outside our classroom. Congratulations to Sunday and Chloe who were chosen as the Students of the Month for February. The theme for February was "Respect". |
