This year we are having house-league team sports during various recess times. All students in the school have been placed on a house-league team. The team colours were chosen for each team during an assembly. This week students will be coming home with their house-league shirt based on their team colour. Student can gain points for their team by participating during house-league games as well as wearing their shirt on Fridays. I will also be giving points for completing homework, such as handing in show and tell assignments or returning sight word rings, poetry books or reading books during the week. House-league points will be tabulated for the school and revealed during assemblies. At the end of the year the team with the most points will win placement on the house-league team trophy.

The PALS program (peer assisted learning strategies) is taught by Ms. Mulligan to the students each day. The program teaches letter names and sounds as well as sight words. The students become coaches and readers in order to work through the program. After a lesson, the students help each other in partners to read or coach the lesson they are working on. At other times the students work on literacy games. |
