Last week the kindergarten students spent some time with their grade 8 helpers planting flowers in the little garden. The students also planted sunflower seeds and milkweed seeds in order to provide food for the Monarch Butterflies.

Last Thursday the students took part in some fun Track and Field events during the morning. All the students participated and received a ribbon. To conclude our class study in health about what is good for a healthy body and to see if the students could make the connection to what are healthy foods the students, with the help of our grade 7/8 partners made life size bodies. They then had to cut out healthy food to glue on their bodies. The students received many complements about their healthy bodies from staff and students. In order for the students to understand the importance of brushing their teeth we completed a class eggsperiment using hardboiled eggs (teeth) and pop (food). The students first hypothesised what would happen when you put hardboiled eggs in a container of pop. Then we did the experiment and the students made observations about what they were seeing when the eggs were in the pop. After a day the eggs were taken out of the pop. The students questioned whether they could clean the eggs (teeth) with toothpaste. Students were given toothpaste, water and a toothbrush to see if they could clean the eggs, which had turned brown in the pop. Their conclusion was YES THEY COULD! |
