Last month I had asked the students to bring in a potato. We have finished using the potatoes for a math exercise in measuring. Students completed a booklet about their potato. They completed different measurements with the potato using the unfix cubes (length), linkits (circumference), and weight using a balance scale (heavier or lighter then). The students also had to describe their potato as well as see if it floats. Finally the students had to decide what was their favourite way to eat a potato (French fries, chips, mashed and baked). Most students chose French fries. As a class we will be graphing how we want to cook and eat the potatoes now that we do not need them for math.
