Last week the students were very interested in creating things with the toys/objects around them. Whether it is outside or inside the students find and create objects or art work within their imaginative play. I find it fascinating that a child can look at a collection of blocks that they have put together and in their mind they have created a castle or a hippopotamus house. This week the students have been busy exploring using Knex builders to create objects. Some of the students are intent on trying to follow the pictures with the kit in order to recreate the photos and others are using their imagination to create new items. Also this week the students were involved in using and mixing paint. They noticed the new colours they were making as well as being able to create handprints. Outside the students have been using the falling leaves to create bird nests and castles. The students also started working with the grade 7 buddies on math activities/games during math work station time. Some of the activities the students are exploring are number identification, graphing, measuring, comparing numbers/sets, and patterning.
