During last week in math we were working on sorting. Using a haunted house mat, the students had to sort a variety of Halloween foam pictures and state what their sorting rule was. The students also spent some time examining the pollen in flowers. One of the questions the students had when we were learning about the pumpkin life cycle was how do bees get pollen on their bodies? The students used Q-tips to represent the bees body and were able to take pollen from one flower and place it on another flower. They were able to understand how bees are important in the life cycle of the apple and pumpkin. We also welcomed to new students, NyaLiep and Chloe to our class and were sad when Danial had to move to Alberta.
