For Show and Tell last week the students were required to bring in items that reflect their own heritage and cultural background. This reflects the objective in the Early Learning Kindergarten Program in Social Development: 3.3 talk about events or retell stories that reflect their own heritage and cultural background and the heritage and cultural backgrounds of others. The students have also started a new program called Fun Friends with Miss Hooper. The program is to help the children learn to be brave and happy, to be kind to others, and be a friend. One of the activities in Session One involved exploring differences between each other, which can be exciting and great! The students learned through their heritage projects that many students and their families were born in different places and may come from different countries. The students were able to show pictures, bring in objects, show family trees and even try out food that reflected the different student heritages. The students also showed how brave they were to get up in front of the class and share about their family backgrounds.
