On February 2nd, Groundhog Day, the students created a groundhog shadow catcher to help in their prediction about whether the groundhog would see his shadow. We started the morning by reading a non-fiction book about groundhogs. The students learned that if the groundhog saw their shadow, we would have 6 more weeks of winter. The students were very eager to test out their groundhog shadow catchers outside. The students were very happy to learn that Wiarton Willie did not see his shadow and therefore Spring would come early. The students were happy that Wiarton Willie was not in Windsor, since the students all saw their groundhogs shadows outside.
