As a conclusion to our literacy study of various gingerbread man books the students helped make a gingerbread man for themselves. All the students had a hand in making or decorating the gingerbread man. After making the gingerbread man the class went to the kitchen to take him out of the oven. Miss Nancy had turned off the oven for us so he would not burn. The students were astonished to find the gingerbread man missing from the pan, just like in the stories we read. We thought that maybe Miss Nancy had opened the oven door and he ran away so the students went on a search for him. After searching for him in the kitchen, Harrison found a clue on the wall which led the students to search the music room. After searching the grade 7&8 and grade 8 rooms, the students found another clue on Mr. Bell's door which led the students to Mrs. Baggio's office. That clue led us to Mrs. Bowyer's office but she said she hadn't seen him. The clue in her office led us to the library, which led us to the art supply room, which led to the gym. In the gym the clue led us back to our classroom where we found our gingerbread man sitting on the teacher's rocking chair. After decorating him it was suggested that we eat him so he could not escape again. And that was the end of our class gingerbread man!
